In November of 26 I was feeling really ready for the next creative challenge. Having spent what felt like the entirety of the last year working on DnD characters, I felt the need to make something with a greater sense of place. There were still things to explore in my SPACERS world but that had been my sole retreat for awhile and I was ready to flesh out something new.
Im a big New Years resolution guy and at the time I was thinking that I would spend the whole of 2026 working in one new world and seeing where that would lead me. One idea that I had was mixing together my love of cowboys , vampires and occult magic into one dark fantasy world. It would be dark and gritty and really moody.
This is the piece that came out from that idea.
I was really stoked when I finished this, I had spent my last few pieces being really careful and clean with my line-work and this felt like a return to what feels very Brae: messy inky lines, lots of texture, fun splatters.
I also really like the tone that was captured here, it feels very gritty and dark in a way that my SPACERS stuff hasn’t been. Overall, I feel like this was a really fun launching point for this world and I’m excited to keep exploring it over the next years.
